A foragers guide to the fungi of Sussex
Foraging tuition - My services - Frequently Asked Questions
I am a forager and fungi enthusiast, based in Brighton. I first started hunting for mushrooms in the mid-eighties and since then I've located, identified and consumed about 150 of the 250-or-so known-to-be-edible species of fungi that occur in the UK. Those edible species for which I am still searching are generally either obscure, tricky to identify or almost impossible to find, at least in my home territory of Sussex, Surrey and Kent. I have been teaching members of the public to forage for mushrooms since 2010, and have more recently begun to supply my local gastro-pubs with fungi on those occasions when there is a glut of certain species, or (as often happens) I end up finding more fungi whilst travelling to and from a session than I did during the session itself.
